The Digiflavor BRK is one of the latest vapes from Geekbar, and it’s very different from most of the other disposable vapes on the market in that it comes in two parts. The first part is the pod – which holds the e-liquid and also functions as a vaping device on its own – and the second part is the magnetic charging dock, which holds most of the device’s battery power and also recharges the battery in the pod.
When you connect the pod to the dock, the Digiflavor BRK looks almost the same as the famous Geekbar Pulse X and essentially has the same features as well. It even has a very cleverly designed display that changes colors depending on the flavor of the connected pod.
The fact that the Digiflavor BRK comes in two parts, though, means that it’s a bit more complex than the average disposable vape. When a regular vape doesn’t charge, you have only one thing to troubleshoot: the device itself. If the Digiflavor BRK isn’t charging, though, the situation is twice as complicated because you need to troubleshoot both the pod and the dock.
Never fear, though, because we’ve got you covered in this guide. Your Digiflavor BRK isn’t charging? Here’s what you need to do.
Understand How the Digiflavor BRK Works
Before you begin troubleshooting your Digiflavor BRK that isn’t charging, it’s important for you to understand how this device works. The pod has a magnetic connection for the charging dock and does not have a USB port of its own. Because of that design, you can only charge the pod with the dock. You charge the dock through your computer, and you charge the pod with the dock. It’s easy to get confused by this because the pod works as a vaping device on its own and is sold separately by vape shops. You may have bought the pod on its own without realizing that you’d have no way to charge the battery.
If you bought the pod by itself, you haven’t wasted your money because the pod will be usable as soon as you have the dock. You’ll need to go back to the vape shop, though, and buy the full Digiflavor BRK kit that includes both the pod and the dock. The dock isn’t sold on its own, but the good news is that you’ll then have two pods rather than one.
Troubleshoot a Digiflavor BRK Dock that Isn’t Charging
If you have a Digiflavor BRK that isn’t charging, it could mean two different things. Either the dock isn’t charging when you connect it to your computer, or the pod isn’t charging when you connect it to the dock. That’s why fixing the problem can be more complicated than it is with other vapes. We’ll start by discussing the dock. The screen should turn on when you connect the dock to your computer with a USB cable. If that doesn’t happen, here’s what you should do next.
- Use another USB cable. When you use the same cable to charge a device every day, it’s bound to wear out more quickly than a cable that remains connected all the time. That’s especially likely to be the case if you tend to grab the cable by the wire when disconnecting it. Internal frays can prevent the cable from working properly and could even potentially cause a dangerous short circuit.
- Use another USB port. It’s always best to charge a vaping device with your computer because you can be confident that the computer’s USB controller will communicate with the charging circuit in your vape to determine the correct charging speed. USB wall adapters, on the other hand, may not always be so intelligent. You should be fine using a wall adapter with a charging rate of 5 volts and 1 amp. You can also use a 0.5-amp wall adapter, although that’ll double the charging time. Don’t use a quick-charging adapter for your mobile phone because it could potentially cause your Digiflavor BRK to overheat.
- Clean the charging port. Do you tend to carry the charging dock for your Digiflavor BRK in your pocket? If you do – and if you’ve been using the same dock for a while – there’s a good chance that the USB port has gotten at least a little bit dirty. You can use a can of compressed air to blow fine dust out. To remove bigger debris like pocket lint, use a toothpick. Rember that you should never use a metal tool to clean a USB port because the metal could potentially scrape the delicate plating off of the contact points in the port.
Troubleshoot a Digiflavor BRK Pod that Isn’t Charging
The connection between the dock and the pod is the second aspect that you need to troubleshoot if you have a Digiflavor BRK that isn’t charging. When you connect the pod to the dock, the screen should immediately light up in the color that matches the pod’s flavor. If that doesn’t happen, here’s what you should do next.
- Disconnect and reconnect the pod. You can also try wiggling the pod gently to make sure that it has a solid connection with the dock. If that doesn’t work, disconnect the pod from the dock and check the charging pins to make sure that they’re moving freely and aren’t stuck. You don’t need to worry about the larger metal bars at the top and bottom; those are the magnets that hold the pod and dock together. The three pins positioned above the lower metal bar are the components that actually transfer power.
- Clean the contacts. If you still can’t get the dock to recognize the pod when you connect it, it’s likely that the contacts are dirty. That’s the one drawback of having a reusable charging dock; you need to do a little occasional maintenance in order to keep the system working. You can use a pencil eraser to remove surface tarnish. If the contacts are very dirty, you can use a cotton swab moistened with a little isopropyl alcohol. Don’t try charging the Digiflavor BRK pod again until you’re sure that the contacts are completely dry.
